SESQUI’s cinematic dome arrives in london in time for canada day weekend

LONDON, JUNE 29 – Fresh off the heels of its successful run in Toronto, SESQUI’s cinematic dome opens today in London, as the second of seven cities in the provincial tour. In partnership with Ontario150, the cinematic dome will offer free screenings of HORIZON from June 29-July 3rd, as part of a line-up of events at London’s SesquiFest.

SESQUI’s eye-catching, red cinematic dome offers an 80-person capacity with the ultimate viewing experience – shot and projecting 360° film in ultra-clear 9K resolution. Audiences will have a front row seat to the wonders of Canada through the immersive, 22-minute film HORIZON. Shot in all 13 provinces and territories, the 360° experience takes audiences on a journey through Canada, from the spectacular colours of the auroras to the high tides of Fundy. HORIZON showcases Canada as it has never been seen before.

“We’re thrilled to celebrate Canada’s 150th here in London as part of a fantastic line-up of events,” said Joanne Loton, SESQUI Executive Producer. “SESQUI is about bringing people together in the communities where they live to celebrate our country and share in our culture of creativity. We’re excited to share this once-in-a-generation moment with Londoners this weekend.”

The SESQUI cinematic dome is supported by the province of Ontario as part of a line-up of Ontario150 celebrations taking place across the province in 2017.  SESQUI is also a Canada 150 Signature Initiative, supported by the Government of Canada.

“Ontario’s 150th anniversary is an opportunity to come together and celebrate the incredible province we live in.  The SESQUI film HORIZON is packed with special and distinctive moments of life across Canada,” said Deb Matthews, MPP London North Centre. “With SESQUI’s dome in London for SesquiFest, families here have a unique once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the marvels of Ontario and Canada.”

SESQUI has partnered with Canada 150 London for SesquiFest, a premiere 5-day festival featuring live animations, installations and more. The London tour stop will also provide opportunities for SESQUI, Canada 150 and community partner activations and a chance to win incredible prizes through SESQUI’s People’s Choice Ballot sponsored by Via Rail.

“For over a year, the London Heritage Council and Canada 150 London have been dedicated to bringing SESQUI’s HORIZON: A 360° Journey to London and making it a key part of our community to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Canada’s Confederation.” Said Andrea McNaughton, Executive Director of the London Heritage Council. “We could not be more thrilled to have SESQUIbe a part of SesquiFest. This immersive experience showcases the amazing sounds and sights of our beautiful country. We are also excited that the first viewing in London will be with a group of newcomers through our ongoing work with the London Cross Cultural Centre.”
